Oprah Crashed the Internet

revolution themes

You knew that once Oprah got her own YouTube channel last year, the daytime talktress was going to be taking things to the web with a little more vigour.

Last week she crashed the whole thing. She was attempting to have a webinar with her latest book club pick. But with more than 500 000 people cramming into the online classroom it crashed.

Oprah’s trying something new here, interactive Internet broadcasting to a mass audience is still an emerging medium.

Being a pioneer is tough and outages happen. The immediate apologies were made, and if you missed the first class, Oprah’s got it archived on her site, on iTunes as a podcast and they’ll try again tonight to do chapter 2 – live.

The book, Eckhart Tolle’s A New Earth, urges readers to take collective action to make changes in their own lives and to save the planet.

catch the buzz … pass it on.
