This weekend the digerati of the city, including podcasters, social marketers, bloggers and the like will convene at UBC for the 4th annual Northern Voice, a series of meet ups and sessions covering everything from blogs and books, to internet art to brand building and widgets.
Airdrie Miller is a highschool math teacher by day, and a co-host of the Lipgloss and Laptops podcast and blog by night. For her, it’s a great way to spend a weekend learning new things with friends.
“Blogging and podcasting are my hobby, and I get to meet like-minded people who I talk to on the internet almost daily — but face-to-face,“ she says.
Tomorrow night things get started with an open mic night at the Waldorf. But not open mic for singing, or stand up, this will be open mic for stories about blogging and for reading favourite blog posts.
Friday, it’s the MooseCamp Unconference, featuring Internet Boot Camp, a chance for beginners to get their feet wet with Blogging 101, Podcasting 101, Videoblogging and Wikis.
This is the second year Airdrie has attended NV. “Vancouver is a major hub for social media, blogging, and all things Geeky,” she glows. “And Canadian bloggers have a reputation for being cutting-edge and very friendly. “
So it all sounds good and exciting and you may want to break off a piece of what’s going down, but get in line. Northern Voice is sold out again this year and has a long waiting list.
catch the buzz… pass it on.
